The short version: Krate runs entirely on your computer. We don't collect your data, track your usage, or send anything to our servers. Your library information never leaves your machine.
What We Don't Collect
Krate is a local-only application. We do not collect:
- Your library files or file paths
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Personal information
- Search queries
- Favorites, collections, or preferences
All your data stays on your computer in the application's local storage.
Data Storage
Krate stores the following data locally on your Mac:
- Settings: Your library paths, hotkey preferences, and display options
- User data: Favorites, collections, recent items, and UI state
- Cache: A cached index of your libraries for faster loading
This data is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Krate/ and is never transmitted anywhere.
Third-Party Services
The Krate application does not connect to any third-party services or external servers.
Our website (usekrate.com) uses:
- Gumroad: For payment processing. Their privacy policy applies to purchases.
- Surge.sh: For website hosting.
Updates
Krate does not auto-update or phone home. You control when to download new versions.
